The DIY Kolhapuri Party

The DIY Kolhapuri Party

This June, our DLF Mall of India store in Noida turned into something a little more special than usual. We threw open our doors for an afternoon dedicated entirely to one of India's most beloved handcrafted footwear: the Kolhapuri chappal.

What Went Down

Our tB Tribe and walk-ins came together for an afternoon of making, learning, and celebrating. At the DIY station, guests personalized their Kolhapuris with pom-poms, ghunguroos, and gota phools, turning each pair into something entirely their own.

But the highlight of the afternoon was the storytelling session by Saloni Sharma, a textile designer and connoisseur of Indian handicrafts. She brought the history and legacy of Kolhapuris alive through her stories, in a way that made you look at them a little differently, not just as footwear, but as a piece of living craft with decades of artistry behind it.

The Hands Behind trueBrowns’ Kolhapuris

The Kolhapuris at our store aren't just beautiful; they carry a legacy. Each pair is handmade and 100% authentic, crafted by native artisan Balkrishna Gawali Ji from Kolhapur.

Making them felt like the least we could do was celebrate them properly.

Why We Did This

This event was our way of going back to our roots and appreciating a craft that’s been around for centuries.

We wanted our tB Tribe to pause and ask: Who made this? Where did it come from? What does it carry?

And then, to add their own touch to it because there's something powerful about putting a piece of yourself into something made by hand.

It's a different kind of connection. One that stays with you long after the event is over.
